This tv series is based on real events with a fictional character. It tells the story of the emancipation movement and how people sought freedom from unfair living & working conditions. This series was received with wide acclaim on its first airing in 2015. The controversy regarding historical injustices still affects many people today however this tv series illuminates that a multicultural approach is not only possible very much common sense. This was a CBC production and I very much enjoyed it. I watched every episode in earnest. I give it a 5 out of 5.
