Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, a film review.

This film features the story of Noah Diaz, a US soldier with a gift for fixing electronics and Elena, an archaeology assistant from a famous museum. The story's central plot is about preventing the villain Unicron from gaining access to the TransWarp key, which is a powerful technological component to the TerrorBots' weapon. The Maximals and Autobots ally to fight the TerrorBots, and it takes them to South America, where the second half of the key was kept safe by a First Nations tribe. Bumblebee, an autobot lost his spark, but was revived by the Energon in the nature of the valley. The final battle scene is epic, where Mirage transforms into a human Autobot suit and together Optimus Prime and Noah defeat Scourge the lead TerrorBot. Elena is able to enter the key, and Unicron is trapped to prevent from entering this galaxy. The film closes with Noah going for a secret job interview with military contractor. Overall, I give this film a 4.5 star rating, it had great graphics and beautiful scenery of South America.

ACT Picnic.

The annual ACT picnic at the Pearce Estate Park by the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary was a big success. People gathered at 11am where we had chips and pop as a snack before lunch. Then a few people threw around a football and a frisbee. After that we ate pizza and wings for lunch and mingled. The mood was light and jovial, and carestaff were accomodating as usual. Thanks to all involved for a great event.

Clubhouse bbq 2024.

This year's clubhouse bbq picnic at Glenmore Park was a big success. The weather was mild, and partly cloudy. We started with apple fritters & boston cream donuts with tea and coffee. Then they cooked some burgers (vegetarian was available too) as well as hotdogs and there was cake for dessert. Then people kinda mingled for a while, a small group did play a game of Bocci ball. We gathered for a photo for the Challenger. The mood was jovial and light. Overall, a good turnout too.

Untitled, a dream recollection.

Last night I had a dream I was on a bus and the road was very bumpy. We hit a large bump and a young boy flew out of the back window of the bus. And bounced along a bank into a river. Soon after that, an excavator came to assist in rescuing him. Inside the bucket after several tries was the boy with Sir Ian McKellan. The boy was rescued. And I woke up with a tremendous sense of relief.

Past lives, a film review.

This movie was produced by Celine Song and features the story of Nayoung, a Korean girl who emmigrates to America in search of recognition and scholarship. Her childhood friend Hae-sung meets up with her after she moves away, and is captivated once again by the sweet girl next door. The honesty and characteresque cheekiness of the intimate Korean language is not lost in this film, in which it is partially subtitled and partially scripted in English. Nayoung's husband is a little lost to the dreamland of Korean fairytales and folklore, but he loves Nayoung, and he wants Hae-sung to have a good time in the States when he decides to visit. The key topic of their conversation is Inyun, or destiny, as they ponder what might have been, or could have been, or what couldn't have been. This movie does a good job of balancing the identity of Korean-American and a Korean-Korean. The cinematography was subtle, in ways where decor and setting are accurate to the time & place. For example, the streets of New York complete with graffiti, and the soju tents of Seoul complete with bbq tables. Overall, this film tugged at my heart strings, and was a joy to watch.
